A Working Bee is a great way to be part of a “Veterans helping
Veterans” program of the Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. & The Veterans
Coalition. The idea is for Veterans, members and interested citizens to
travel to a leased or purchased building that the Veterans of the Vietnam
War, Inc. & The Veterans Coalition has investigated as being a viable United
Veterans Beacon House, a transitional homeless Veteran program.
No, this is not a new program, but rather one of the many programs the
Organization operates in its efforts to support Veterans and their families
– one of many programs that we work diligently on and expand whenever we get
requests from Posts or members. Once leased or purchased, we set about a
plan to renovate, construct or modify these buildings to suit the UVBH
operation.
We ask for Volunteers from within the membership and from concerned citizens
to travel to these areas, sometimes remote, and we supply accommodations,
meals, tools, building materials and equipment to make these renovations
possible. In most instances, transportation will be arranged.
There are many days of hard work and toil, however, there are many days of
working with other members, other Veterans and interested citizens with one
purpose – assisting Veterans.
There is a great feeling of being a part of a program that assists a portion
of the over 300,000 U.S. Homeless Veterans who have no permanent residence
and need a hand up and not a hand out.
We guarantee that you will feel a sense of accomplishment and ownership of
the projects that will last a lifetime.
